Pre-K & Kindergarten
Rachel Austin joined the Maury community as a parent in 2023, and as an educator in 2025, teaching Special Education for PreK and Kindergarten students. She started her career as a teacher in 2010 through Teach for America, teaching PreK and Kindergarten in Prince George’s County for 5 years. She moved to Tubman Elementary School in DCPS as a first grade teacher, and then spent a year in Albuquerque, New Mexico earning her Master’s Degree in Education at the University of New Mexico. When she returned to DC in 2016, she taught for eight years as a PreK teacher at Thomson Elementary School before moving to Maury. When she’s not teaching, she likes being outside, reading, swimming and spending time with her family.
