The idea behind this event is that it's a family night where you can explore, think, and learn with your child from leading experts and organizations in STEAM related fields. We are also asking each family to bring a plastic bag or many plastic bags (the more colorful the bag, the better) to contribute to a collaborative plastic bag weaving that will be created during the event. If you can't find one, that's ok, but it's a way to start talking about upcycling and create some epic art together!
In addition, there will be a student science fair component (which started in the virtual school days and we don't want to let go of it). If your child is interested in presenting a science fair project, I'll continue to send out reminders and there will be an official sign-up document in March.
We also want to recruit YOU! If you are a parent and professional scientist and would like to host your own booth at the event, please contact stephanie.conant@k12.dc.gov. We know the talent at Maury runs deep!
Ms. Bomba could also use a few handy volunteers to help her install hundreds of art pieces a few days before the big event. Reach out to Ms. Bomba at lauren.bomba@gmail.com to offer your help.
We look forward to seeing you there!-The STEAM EXPO Team
