Rachel Gannon joined the Maury community in 2024, having taught special education for over 10 years in DCPS.
Mrs. Gannon is originally from New York where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Jewelry Design/International Trade and Marketing from Fashion Institute of Technology, and her master’s degree in Art Therapy from The School of Visual Arts. After moving to D.C. with her husband, Mrs. Gannon obtained her licensure as both a Board-Certified Art Therapist and Special Education Teacher. She also continued to pursue doctorate courses in Special Education at George Washington University.
She strives to bring a whole child approach to teaching and helping students find a voice of their own through a creative learning process.
Mrs. Gannon loves traveling the country on epic road trips with her husband and daughter, spending time with friends, watching movies, and volunteering her art therapy services at various organizations.
