Shirley Battle | Kindergarten

Shirley Battle has taught at Maury since 1992.

“What I like most about teaching is interacting with children, building relationships with families, and the awesome reward of observing students learn new skills. The love of children and the power of education inspired me to become a teacher.”

Mrs. Battle is a native Washingtonian and a proud product of D.C. Public Schools. She is a proud alumnus of Benjamin Banneker High School.

She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education, a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies.

She enjoys spending quality time with her family, attending church, going to the theater, and traveling around the world. She loves to sing, exercise, swim, skate, and build with LEGO.
