Hello, my name is Mrs. Justice, and I am an Early Childhood Paraeducator at Maury Elementary School in Washington, DC. I have been with Maury since 2019 and bring over 28 years of experience working with children in early childhood education, childcare, and youth development. Throughout my career, I have worked as a youth counselor, teacher assistant, daycare owner/operator, and paraprofessional in both general education and inclusive classroom settings.
I began my career in 1992 as a Junior/Senior Counselor at Rockburne Estates Multi-Purpose Center, where I supervised academic tutoring, organized group activities, and promoted positive social skills for children ages 5 to 13. I later worked as a Floater Teacher Assistant at Children’s World Learning Center, supporting infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms while assisting with daily routines and helping maintain consistent learning environments.
From 2002 to 2006, I owned and operated Tender Souls Family Home Daycare, providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for infants through age three. I partnered closely with families to support each child’s cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development. From 2006 to 2018, I served as an Early Childhood Paraprofessional, collaborating with lead teachers to implement instruction, facilitate small-group learning, support classroom management, and meet the diverse needs of young learners. Since 2019, I have proudly served as a PreK3 Paraeducator at Maury Elementary School, where I continue to support students’ academic, language, and social-emotional development while fostering an inclusive classroom community.
I was born and raised in Washington, DC, attended DC Public Schools, and graduated from Eastern Senior High School in 1991. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education at Grand Canyon University, with an expected graduation in 2027. My educational background also includes a 90-Hour Childcare Certification from Prince George’s Community College, the Paraprofessional Assessment Certification, and college coursework in Child Development and Computer Information Systems.
Throughout my career, I have developed experience using a variety of early childhood curricula and assessment tools, including Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, Second Step, Building Blocks, Guided Discovery, Academic Play, and Brigance. I am passionate about creating engaging, safe, and inclusive learning environments where every child feels respected, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. My goal is to help lay a strong educational foundation that prepares young learners to become confident students, responsible citizens, and lifelong learners.
