LSAT

The Local School Advisory Team (LSAT), formerly the Local School Restructuring Team, is a group of elected and appointed members that every public school in the District of Columbia features as an integral part of fostering strong connections within school communities. The LSAT consists of parents, teachers, non-instructional school staff, and a community representative. It advises the principal on school matters including operations, student achievement, budgeting, and enrollment with high expectations and high achievement for all students in mind. Teacher and parent representatives are elected for renewable one-year terms in May. Click here for more information on LSATs.

Maury Elementary School’s LSAT upholds a cooperative culture of deliberation and works in close cooperation with the principal to further our school’s vision and goals. The LSAT regularly reports about its proceedings at PTA meetings. Maury’s LSAT typically meets every first Tuesday of the month at 3:30 pm. Its deliberations are open to any member of the school community who wishes to attend. Members of any of the constituencies – parents, teachers, staff, and community – are encouraged to bring school-related issues to the attention of the LSAT by contacting the chair or any of the members. Summary meeting minutes are made available via this link. Besides providing a summary of discussions, they also indicate who to follow up with in search of additional information on an issue.
